My dad, then aged seven, remembered the telegram boy coming a month earlier to say Arthur was injured but in hospital. The telegram boy returned one month later giving the telegram to my dad - he put this behind the clock for his mum. It contained the terrible news that the hospital had been bombed. I visited the grave for the first time ten years ago - a beautiful small cemetery, incredibly moving. There I found my grandfather's grave, alongside many nurses and medical personnel, all killed on the same day. Most moving of all however were the words on the gravestone, which read: "Your loving wife Edie and the children who will never forget you." Although he was not forgotten, I was听the first family member to have ever visited his grave. last updated: 11/11/2008 at 10:47 SEE ALSOYou are in: Hereford and Worcester > World War 1 > Personal stories about WW1 > My grandfather's grave
