As he draws on his 18 years of carving experience, he also reflects on the demise of the bear in the Herefordshire countryside.
Harry Thomas is no stranger to making giant sculptures.听听听听  The finished bear Among his prestigious commissions is a six foot red squirrel made for the Queen, now听positioned at Sandringham, alongside another two of his carvings.听听听 As Harry saws away at an eight foot tree trunk, we watch a bear emerge from the wood, as if by magic. Harry shares anecdotes from 18 years as a chainsaw carver, and reflects on why bears have disappeared from the Herefordshire landscape, now only remembered in a handful pub names.
