He's regularly approached by major record labels to comment on their latest releases. Read his views on one local CD... Well, it's been along time comin' but, Jamie Knight's back with his new project, The Acoustic Tree; so, no prizes for guessing that 'Turn Off Silent' is a totally acoustic offering.听And, this is so hot off the 'desk' that it came to me with no artwork, still steamin' from it's birth ritual and positively cryin' to be heard! Jamie Knight And The Acoustic Tree comprises of JK (vocals and guitar), Simon Othen (guitars) and Catherine Oldham (cello); no frills now, no complications, just sweet, sweet acoustic music delivered from the heart to the heart. Jamie Knight Jamie has chosen to record this live in the studio to capture the true essence of the unit and he's managed to totally nail it - this is Jamie Knight pretty-much in the flesh! Six tracks make up this EP; six shortish works that do no more than get the job done and听tell the listener just exactly what and where Jamie Knight is - typically mellow, typically honest, typically open. Knight's forceful but emotional vocals are beautifully accompanied by Othen's poignant, expressive guitars and Oldham's rounded, precise and haunting cello. Together the three make heavenly music, together the three are as one, together the three are The Acoustic Tree.
Generally 'Turn Off Silent' is a darkly descriptive work but it ain't all down and dismal 'cuz Knight also gives you a couple of slightly more sprightly, (relatively) up-tempo songs just to lift things a little. However, in the main, this is a reflective and emotional work that tells of love won and lost, of troubled minds, of turmoil, of heart-searching. Tracks offered here are 'We'll Move On', 'All I Ever Needed', 'Heal', 'I Know', 'So Far Away' and 'Show Me The Night' - an altogether moving but rewarding work of quality and commitment. Very tasty stuff this and a bit of a grower too! Just keep pressing play and slowly find yourself being absorbed in Knight's acoustic world - excellent!
