Bar Hill Fort

Bar Hill was the highest fort on the Antonine wall and the site for a headquarters. In front of the Fort runs a section of ditch.


 

Bearsden Bathhouse
On Roman Road, Bearsden
One of the bathhouses and latrines the Romans constructed to service the troops of the Antonine Wall.


 

Croy Hill
Between Croy and Dullatur,

Ditch and beacon platforms on west side of hill. Unfortunately hardly a trace of the fort on Croy Hill can be seen.

Watling Lodge

This is the best surviving section of the Antonine Wall’s ditch.

  Rough Castle
Signposted at Bonnybridge, one mile east, 65 NS 835 798-845 799
Rough Castle is the best preserved section of the Antonine Wall. Complete with rampart and ditch as well as the remains of one of the wall’s forts and a stretch of the military way, the road that ran behind the Antonine Wall for moving troops and supplies.
