Air Raid sirens
A familiar sound to the adults and children of World War Two was the air
raid sirens, which sounded to alert them of an impending bomb attack.
An initial siren warned people to head to their nearest shelter at the
start of a raid and they were free to leave as the ‘all clear’ siren sounded
when the attack was over.

Memories
The turbulent
war years in Scotland left people young and old with strong memories of
the time. For some it was the process of being evacuated to the country
away from the major Scottish cities and those living on Scottish islands
can also remember the effect the wars had on their homelife.
