The sculpture will be built on stage by Spanish artist Oscar Rodriguez and will be three meters high, showing elegant dancing figures.

Local dancers Jon Beney and Rhiana Laws will be using the sculpture as part of their performance 鈥楳ake & Break鈥� and make again鈥�, which has been specially commissioned for the Hull Two Weekends dance festival.

鈥淲e just thought it would be interesting, fun and exciting just to cross-over the two different art forms.鈥� said Jon.

鈥淭he sculpture has been designed so that it鈥檚 got two or three weight-bearing points on it so that we can actually step on to and jump off it.

鈥淭he theme running throughout the piece is about creation and destruction. The premise being for every person that wants to create and succeed there鈥檚 always somebody that maybe wants to pull that down and destroy it.鈥�

The structure has been designed by sand sculpture artist Jamie Wardley from Bradford and created ahead of the performance to allow the dancers to rehearse their piece.

Other performances taking place as part of the Two Weekends dance festival includes Indian classical and Gypsy folk dance by the Sonia Sabri Company, contemporary dance and film exploration by Hull-based choreographer Jo Ashbridge and the annual showcase, Creative Voice - Youth Dance Platform.

The Hull Two Weekends dance festival runs between 9th to 11th and 16th to 18th November 2007.
