Local BandsYou are in: Lancashire > Entertainment > Music > Local Bands > Asylum AsylumAsylum from Preston - don't let the fact that they admit to being drunks with big egos put you off! More about Asylum... Where are you from?Preston Who plays what?Angelis La Vantae aka Angel – Vocals/Guitar Anyone got any bad habits? Most of us are drunks! But that’s not too bad. Rock and Roll. We have big egos. What's the band's history so far?Angelis La Vantae deciding on a symphonic element recruited Will Thompson on keyboards to join drummer Kieran Hodgson, guitarist Kev Balshen and bass guitarist Dave Marshall to form Asylum in July 2002. Later Adam Hall was to join Asylum as a second bass guitarist. This was to be the line up until February 2005 when drummer, Kieran left the band to be replaced with Danny McMahon. It was also decided around this time to drop the two bass guitars idea so Adam now plays second guitar. During 2004 Asylum played in excess of twenty gigs including some large events such as the outdoor event on Avenham Park, Preston. Other important gigs were support slots to The Damned, Malibu Stacey and The Black Velvets. Another band Asylum had the pleasure of supporting was Torsohorse who’s extensive UK tour is currently featured in Kerrang. Asylum have not played live since new years eve 04/05 at The Mill, Preston. That is about to change, from May Asylum’s "Oblivion 2005" tour kicks off in Preston at The Mitre Tavern. Style and influences?Marilyn Manson, NIN, Amen, Slipknot, Motley Crue, Slayer, AFI. Best moment so far?Battle Of the Bands Final 2004. The Mill in Preston was packed and although only achieving second place, half a point behind favourites from the start Treehouse 3, it was probably one of the best responses ever seen or heard at The Mill for an unsigned metal band. Worst/most embarrassing moment so far?Trying to trash some old equipment at an outdoor event. A lot of stuff which was supposed to break, didn’t! Even one of the security guys couldn’t break one of the guitars. Anything else we should all know about?Darwen Music live Festival 2006 is being held on Sunday 28th May and Monday 29th May with various events happening during the day and into the night at venues around the town. Asylum will be performing at The Millstone on Monday 29th at a time to be confirmed, provisionally 1-30 pm. last updated: 19/06/2008 at 09:43 SEE ALSOYou are in: Lancashire > Entertainment > Music > Local Bands > Asylum
