"The drama of Christ in the Centre is very powerful - even in rehearsal." | James Burke-Dunsmore, Actor and Director |
Bank Holiday Good Friday was the fifth year the play has taken place in Leicester city centre. Around 10,000 people from Leicestershire and beyond, witnessed the event which took place in different parts of the city centre. The procession began at the Leicester Cathedral and moved on to the Town Hall Square, Greyfriars, Berridge Street and Horsefair Street before they travelled on to the final act of the performance. Actor and Director James Burke-Dunsmore performed as Christ for the third year running.
He said, "The drama of Christ in the Centre is very powerful - even in rehearsal." While this may be the story of one man, it is certainly no one-man-show. James says that the very special nature of the performance, "is in large part due to the effort and commitment the rest of the cast put into creating the drama." Chirst in the Centre The drama unfolded from Leicester Cathedral at 10:15 in the morning. The arrest and trial scenes took place in the Town Hall Square at 11:00. And the final scene of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ took place on a large stage at Humberstone Gate at 11:45. Can't wait for the sixth year!
