After the cancellation of the Caribbean Carnival was cancelled in 2006 it's especially important that this year it comes back with a bang!

There will be live music, dancing, drumming, food and drink, as well as the famous carnival parade through the city.

The children won't be left out either, as there will be face painting, henna, puppet shows and mask-making in the Children's Village.

A Combination of Cultures

To commemorate the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade, the theme will be 'A Combination of Cultures'.

Highlights will include an Emancipation village, with relics left behind from the slave trade, and an exhibition about the days of slavery.

Return of the Mack

And as if all that wasn't enough, Leicester's Mark Morrison will be performing on the main stage!

Unsigned artists from across the Midlands will also be showing off their skills on the youth stage, with music from soul to garage, from hip hop to jazz.

So come to Victoria Park on Saturday 04 August 2007 to experience Leicester's most colourful festival for yourself!
