Radio Collective are just over a year old and have only been gigging since March, however their individual passion for music goes way back to when they were just 14.

"It all fell into place - we didn't know it was going to sound like this when we set out."

成人论坛 Leicester's Chris Highton spoke to Radio Collective about their music and ambitions...

Musical focus

Their influences range from The Specials and The Beatles, to Kasabian and Oasis.

Songwriting is a joint effort between the group and can originate from a simple rift into something much more special.

Three of the band members live together which means the writing process and band business never stops.

There is a big commercial focus to their work. They write for themselves but also with the audience largely in mind - even using clever tricks to make the songs more catchy!

The big time

Radio Collective are dedicated in reaching their aim for the big time - chart success is everything:

"I feel like we deserve it to be honest, we've been writing songs for so long."

If the band become stars they're adamant it won't cause writer's block, their material would just take a new approach:

"Personally when I write the lyrics they're all about a certain kind of thing at the moment - what you dream about, what you want to do in the future.

"Obviously if we were to get there it would be a totally different direction. I think you can embrace every single stage as it come to you and use it as an inspiration."
