It seems that Leicester is soon to become host to a full Bollywood production team and some rather famous faces. Top actor turned award-winning director Sunny Deol is partly shooting his new film in Leicestershire, with stars including Shilpa Shetty. This will be Shilpa's first Bollywood film after her success in Celebrity Big Brother 2007. Listen: Bollywood Film PlansVic Anand is a successful local businessman who is personal friends with Sunny Deol. He spoke to 成人论坛 Leicester's Kamlesh Purohit about plans for the new film...
Help playing audio/video Producer Sunny decided to do the new film, which has the working title The Man, in Leicestershire to promote the city and county. He already has strong links with the area - his wife is originally from Oakham, and his first child was born in a Leicester hospital. Vic agrees that the film could mean a great future relationship with Bollywood: "If this film goes successful and it goes as a hit, we're going to see a lot of other producers, a lot of directors who now are going to be focused on Leicester. "They've done films in Scotland, they've done films in London and everywhere else, but looking at Leicester what they would realise is we have a completely different concept here... "I think it's really going to benefit Leicester a lot." Sunny Deol Filming and Star SpottingVic wouldn't give out too much information about the film as he didn't want to ruin it for the audience, however he did let out a few nuggets: "The film is going to be obviously an action-packed film. We'll have a lot of action in there - you'll see commandos, helicopters, torture, this and that." Filming is planned to start at the end of March 2009 and should last about 30 days. During this time more than 100 cast and crew members will be based in the city, so plenty of potential for star spotting: "Keep watching for a person walking down that road - wearing a cap, hiding his face - and you'll have an idea that this could be him." There should be a number of opportunities for the people of Leicester to get involved with the making of the film. Vic believes the production team are hoping to release the finished movie at Diwali. last updated: 09/03/2009 at 11:37 You are in: Leicester > Entertainment > Theatre and Arts > Features > Bollywood in Leicester
