We are thrilled to bring World Questions to Copenhagen - it’s a fascinating time in Danish politics, and we’re eager to get to grips with the issues that really matter to Danes

On 4 September 成人论坛 World Questions comes to Copenhagen to host a debate on the country’s political and economic future, and to find out what Danes themselves have to say about world events.

A small country on the edge of Northern Europe, Denmark has a reputation for being one of the happiest places on the planet - but for many that has always felt like a bit of a myth. Increasingly the challenges of immigration, integration, and high taxes are causing some Danes to question whether their country can afford to be as generous in its welfare provision as it has been in the past. Others feel that new laws to 'ban the burka' and cuts to welfare have put the character of their nation on the line. Denmark joined the EU in the same year as Britain, how has the prospect of Brexit affected attitudes in this traditionally quite Eurosceptic country?

Chairing the debate at the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen, the 成人论坛’s Jonathan Dimbleby will be joined by a panel of influential politicians and thinkers who will be debating questions from the audience. The panel will include:

  • Martin Henriksen, MP - Spokesperson on Immigration and Integration for the Danish People’s Party
  • Knud Romer - Author and social commentator
  • Uzma Ahmed - Integration Advisor and founder of the Brown Feminists Network
  • Pernille Skipper, MP - Political Spokesperson for the Red Green Alliance

Mary Hockaday, Controller, 成人论坛 World Service English, says: “We are absolutely thrilled to bring World Questions to Copenhagen. It’s a fascinating time in Danish politics, and we’re eager to get to grips with the issues that really matter to Danes. Debate is at the heart of the World Service, and this event allows people to put their questions directly to our panel, and have their voices heard around the world.”

Martin Gilbert, Director Nordics, British Council, says: “We are delighted to be partnering with the 成人论坛 in bringing World Questions to Copenhagen. This programme generates space for open and independent debates on current affairs, which supports the British Council’s objective of promoting cultural relations among people worldwide. We believe that connecting people both in Denmark and globally makes a powerful and lasting contribution to a more open and connected world.”

成人论坛 World Questions is an English language event, created in partnership with the British Council and will be recorded for radio broadcast worldwide.

成人论坛 World Questions will be recorded in English on 4 September at the National Museum of Denmark from 18.00.
