Polls close in local authority by-election

Voting has closed in a by-election to fill a vacant seat in the on the board of Onchan Commissioners.

The contest was triggered following the resignation of Fenella Logan from the local authority in August.

The three candidates contesting the vacancy, in alphabetical order according to surname, are Nigel Dobson, Oliver Lockwood and Scott Wilson.

The polling station at The Hub, on School Road in Onchan, was open until 20:00 GMT.

The term of office for the successful candidate will run until the island鈥檚 local authority general election on 24 April 2025.

There are 6,966 registered voters in the Onchan district, which has the second largest number of residents on the island.

The board is made up of seven commissioners and the authority is responsible for carrying out, providing and maintaining a range of services in the area, including parks and other leisure facilities.
