A man planned to abduct a teenage boy from a care home and force him to sell Class A drugs on his behalf, police said.
Macauley Jones, of Greenhill Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to child abduction and drugs supply offences at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Monday.
It followed an investigation from the Telford child exploitation team at West Mercia Police, who found Jones was planning to take the 14-year-old to an undisclosed address.
The child had already been forced into debt by Jones and was made to sell drugs to pay it off, according to detectives.
Det Sgt Lou Hickman said she hoped the conviction would send a message to people looking to exploit children.
Jones, 28, was due to be sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court on 24 May.
