A parliamentary candidate has said he will not stand in a forthcoming general election due to health issues.
Chris Naylor, Liberal Democrat candidate for the newly created South Shropshire constituency, said it was with huge regret he was standing down.
"Sadly, my old cardiovascular problem has flared up again after nearly 10 years," Mr Naylor said.
David Gaukroger, South Shropshire Lib Dem鈥檚 constituency chairman, said: "Chris is an exceptional man and he has made a great impact in the campaign."
The party said it was understood a new candidate would be chosen in the next week or so.
Mr Naylor, from Church Stretton, was selected as the candidate for South Shropshire in June 2023.
Wolverhampton South West MP Stuart Anderson has been selected as the Tory candidate for the new seat which stretches to Shrewsbury.
The next general election is expected to be held during the second half of 2024.
