Flood alerts issued across the South East

Flood alerts have been issued across the South East of England as residents have been advised to be prepared.

Throughout Monday the alerts were in place for the River Thames, River Bourne, River Mole, River Eden, River Medway, River Adur, River Ouse, River Uck, and River Rother.

Some of the areas that have been told to prepare include Staines, Egham, Chertsey, Camberley, Leatherhead, Godalming, Guildford, Penshurst, Edenbridge, Hever, Burgess Hill, Etchingham and Robertsbridge.

A higher-level on the Cuckmere River in East Sussex where flooding is expected to impact a small number of properties.

The other rivers where alerts have been issued are the River Wey and the River Blackwater near the Surrey-Hampshire border.

The River Thames alert is in place from Datchet to Shepperton Green and between Shepperton and Molesey.

A flood alert is also in place for Climping seafront in West Sussex and Combe Haven in East Sussex.

People in the impacted areas have been advised to have insurance documents and medication ready, to avoid going through flood water, and to move any livestock and farming equipment away from areas likely to flood.
