Bridge reopens following strong wind warning
- Published
The Severn Bridge has reopened after it was closed all day due to high winds.
The M48 had been closed to traffic for most of the day between junction 2 of the A466 for the Wye Valley Link Road, Chepstow, and junction 1 of the A403 for Aust.
Traffic was instead being diverted via the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.
Large areas of England, Wales and Northern Ireland are still being covered by a yellow weather warning for strong winds.
The Met Office high winds may cause "some disruption", with delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.
It comes two weeks after a driver ignored signs saying the bridge was shut - also due to high winds - and ended up crashing into the central reservation.
