Police have appealed for witnesses following the death of a woman who was pulled out of the River Thames in Surrey at the weekend.

Surrey Police said officers were called to reports of a person in the water near Walton Bridge, Walton-On-Thames, at 18:40 BST on Sunday.

The woman in her 80s was taken to hospital where she later died, police said.

The force said her death was not being treated as suspicious but officers were keen to establish how she entered the water.

The woman was described as wearing a dark hooded puffed coat, red long-sleeved top, black leggings and black sheepskin boots.

Detectives found a grey Toyota Yaris believed to belong to the woman nearby.

Surrey Police said they wanted to speak to anyone who saw, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of, the woman or the car driving in the area at the time.
