Hundreds of drivers fined on Taylor Swift gig day

Concert-goers may have driven out of the city and away from the crowds, but hundreds of them Did Something Bad and received parking fines on the day Taylor Swift played to a sell-out crowd in Cardiff.

Fans knew the rules All Too Well, as Cardiff Council warned that anyone who parked within the road closure area faced having their car removed on safety grounds.

The warning came after almost 450 penalty charge notices (PCNs) were issued on the day of the Pink concert.

Data issued by Cardiff council shows that 339 penalty charge notices (PCNs) were handed out on 18 June.

The data also shows that the most ticketed street on that day was City Road with up to 14 fines issued while nine tickets with issued on Ryder Street.

Other streets in and around the city centre were not far behind.

Eight PCNs were issued on Fitzhamon Embankment, Despenser Street, Plasturton Avenue and Clare Place.

On the day Pink played at the Principality Stadium, 444 PCNs were issued across Cardiff.

A number聽of pictures were posted on social media shortly after the Pink concert showing cars parked on pavements and grass verges on and near Taff Embankment.

Cardiff council said it received 109 reports about people parking incorrectly across 11 and 12 June, with 57 complaints made on 11 June and 52 the following day.

Around 67,000 people attended the Taylor Swift concert on Tuesday and it was reported that more than 50,000 attended the Pink concert.

The council advised attendees聽to use designated event parking and find a Blank Space for both events, and are issuing the same message ahead of the Foo Fighters performance聽at Principality Stadium on 25 June.
