More rail services have resumed, following a landslip earlier this month which closed the line between Shrewsbury and Birmingham.

West Midlands Railway restored a limited service between Shifnal and Wolverhampton on Monday, but said from Thursday it would be extending the route to stop at Telford too.

Network Rail has said it hopes to have the collapsed railway embankment, between Oakengates and Wellington, repaired by 28 March.

Buses will continue to transport passengers between Shrewsbury and Telford until then.

The temporary service will run every two hours, West Midlands Railway said.

Network Rail said 12,000 tonnes of stone would be needed for the work between Wellington and Oakengates

The embankment stands 17m (56ft) above ground level, with almost 6,000 tonnes of material falling when the landslip occurred on 8 March.

Network Rail believes the collapse was caused by wet weather over the winter.
