A man has been charged after allegedly driving on the A1 at six times over the legal drink-drive limit.

Lincolnshire Police said the 38-year-old man was arrested following reports of a car being driven erratically near Grantham on Sunday.

He was later charged with failing to provide a roadside breath test and driving over the legal alcohol limit, the force said.

The man, from the Newark area, has been bailed and is due to appear at Lincoln Magistrates' Court at a later date.

In a test at a police station, officers said the man provided readings of 209 and 203 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
