Woman left with 'serious injuries' after Carrick assault
A woman has been left with serious injuries after she was struck in the face multiple times while sitting in her car in Carrickfergus in County Antrim.
Police said the attack happened at about 19:00 BST on Prince Andrew Way in the town on Thursday.
Later, officers attended a fire at a flat in Longfield Gardens in Greenisland at about 03:00 on Friday morning, which is being treated as arson.
The suspect in both incidents, a 40-year-old man, was located by police and arrested on suspicion of a number of offences.
He remains in custody.
Police have appealed to those with information regarding either incident to contact them.
