An unrefrigerated van full of "warm defrosting chicken" that was bound for a shop, was stopped by officers.
Cambridgeshire Police said the overweight vehicle, on its way to Bedford, was inspected close to Baldock, near the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire borders.
As part of Operation Chambers, which aimed to "disrupt those who commit rural crime", the force also said it also caught 93 drivers with no tax and several vehicles with defects.
A police spokesperson said the van was reported to the local council and added: "All in a day's work for our rural crime officers."
