Car driver dies in fatal crash with tractor

A driver has died in West Sussex following a crash with a tractor and trailer.

Sussex Police said the 28-year-old male driver of a blue Toyota RAV4 died at the scene in Station Road, Petworth. His next of kin have been informed.

The 32-year-old tractor driver was uninjured in the incident, which happened at about 19:20 BST on Thursday.

Station Road was closed sounthbound at the junctions with Rotherbridge Lane and Kilsham Lane and was expected to remain shut into Friday afternoon.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service says a signed diversion could take drivers almost 55 minutes to travel between Duncton and Coultershaw Bridge - a journey usually taking three minutes.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the police.
