School dinners axed after mice found in kitchen
Cooked school dinners have been suspended at a comprehensive after mice were found running around its kitchen.
Parents of pupils at Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, were told the discovery "obviously poses a concern for the health and safety of our pupils".
Head teacher Clive Thomas said in a letter that pupils would instead be provided with pack lunches by the school until the situation is "fully addressed".
"We want to assure you that we are taking this matter very seriously," he said.
Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen is a bilingual secondary school with a total of 875 pupils between the ages of 11-18.
In his letter, Mr Thomas wrote: "The school is working closely with the local authority to resolve the issue.
"We appreciate your understanding and support as we deal with this situation."
