Pedestrian seriously hurt after late night crash

A driver has been arrested after a pedestrian was left with serious injuries following a late night crash.
Essex Police said it happened at the crossing on the slip road from the A176 for Uppermayne on the westbound A127, in Basildon, at about 23:00 GMT on Saturday.
The pedestrian, in his 50s, was seriously hurt, but his injuries are not life-threatening, the force added.
The 41-year-old driver of a silver Ford Focus, from Pitsea, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and remains in custody.
The force is investigating and has asked for witnesses, or anyone with CCTV, dashcam or any other information to come forward.
