A motorway has been closed due to a broken-down horsebox.

The M4 in Gloucestershire is closed in both directions between junction 22 for Pilning and junction 20 for the Almondsbury Interchange to allow the horses to be safely transferred to another vehicle.

National Highways told motorists to allow extra time for their journeys.

Diversions are in place while Avon and Somerset Police respond to the incident.
