A man has been charged with murdering a 77-year-old who was found dead inside a house.

Alfred Langley was discovered with a head injury at a house on Clipsley Lane in Haydock, at about 22:10 GMT on Tuesday, Merseyside Police said.

Peter Langley, 33, of Clipsley Lane, Haydock, has been charged with murder and will appear at South Sefton Magistrates' Court later.

The force said the victim's family was being supported by specialist officers.
