Second arrest over petrol station hit-and-run

A second man has been arrested after a petrol station worker was hit by a car on a forecourt near Wakefield.

Officers were called to the Esso garage on Castleford Road, Normanton, at 02:22 BST on Sunday.

Police said a male staff member suffered life-threatening injuries as he tried to stop the driver of a black Audi who was leaving without paying for their fuel.

West Yorkshire Police said a 31-year-old had been arrested in London in connection with the incident.

An 18-year-old man, arrested in Essex on Monday, has been moved to custody in West Yorkshire, the force added.

The injured employee remains in a critical condition in hospital.
