A man in his 40s is in a critical condition after being rescued from a burning building in Wigan.

Police said the man's injuries were considered "life-threatening" and they were investigating the cause of the blaze.

Greater Manchester Police was called to the scene in Dumbarton Green at about 18:40 BST on Wednesday.

The force said no arrests had been made so far and the man was being treated in hospital.

Anyone with information about the cause of the fire is asked to contact GMP.
