A police officer has been sacked after he was found to have assaulted a man and pushed a child while off duty.

Staffordshire Police confirmed that the officer, who was granted anonymity, was dismissed without notice following a three-day misconduct hearing.

The force said the incident happened while he was involved in a disagreement in a neighbour鈥檚 garden.

The misconduct hearing, which concluded on Thursday, found he had "breached the standard relating to discreditable conduct".

Staffordshire Police said he would also be placed on the College of Policing鈥檚 barred List, which prevents him from working for the police and other law enforcement bodies.

Dep Ch Con Jon Roy said: 鈥淭he actions of the officer that day were unacceptable. The public deserves the highest possible standards from our officers whether they are on or off duty.

鈥淲e will continue to take robust action against any officer or member of staff that doesn鈥檛 act with the highest standards of integrity, both in and outside of the workplace."
