Former Bradford care home beats estimates with 拢1m sale at auction

A Bradford care home has sold for 拢1m at auction after being listed at a fraction of the price.
The 28-bedroom property in Allerton had a guide price of 拢325,000 after it closed as it was "not fit for purpose".
Four other buildings also went under the hammer, meaning Bradford Council made more than 拢1.8m in total.
The council said it had deemed the buildings surplus to requirement and the sales were managed by Pugh Auctioneers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The former care home, Woodward Court on Kirklees Road, is being replaced with a new facility in Saltaire, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The Willows, a former assisted living facility on Hall Road, had a guide price of 拢160,000 but sold for 拢352,000.
A 1.1-acre plot of grazing land on Highfield Road with an on-site stable and a dilapidated house sold for 拢406,000.
In addition, a terraced property on Reginald Street that was described as being "in an extensive state of disrepair" had a guide price of 拢50,000, but sold for 拢82,000.
