Policing Ardoyne riots cost 拢1.1m

The PSNI chief constable has revealed that dealing with four days of rioting in Ardoyne in July cost the police 拢1.1m.
Matt Baggott was speaking during a meeting of the NI Policing Board.
He said the cost was equivalent to that of a neighbourhood policing team of eight officers working in Ardoyne for three years.
Several police officers were injured during three nights of violence in Ardoyne which began on 12 July.
More than 40 people have so far been charged in connection with the trouble in Ardoyne and other areas of Belfast over the same period.
