Exclusion zone lifted after major gas leak in Cumbernauld repaired
An exclusion zone in Cumbernauld has been lifted after a major gas leak was repaired.
Earlier gas distribution company SGN closed the town's Lye Brae and asked people in the exclusion zone not to set off fireworks for safety reasons.
In an , SGN said "substantial progress" had been made.
"We've stopped the major leak and the exclusion zone has been lifted," they added.
They added that there were still some essential works to be carried out over the next week and road closures will need to remain in place.
SGN said if anyone smells has or has safety concerns they should call the National Gas Emergency Number on 0800 111 999.
