The M4 motorway has reopened after the road was closed near Newport in both directions after a one-car crash.

A 70-year-old man from Raglan suffered a head injury and was taken to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

The crash happened westbound at 11:05 GMT and the section between junctions 24 and 25 closed. All lanes were fully re-opened by 15:50.

However, motorists westbound were warned of ongoing delays of up to an hour on Friday afternoon.

Following the crash, the air ambulance in addition to crews from the fire service, Welsh Ambulance Service and police attended the scene.

The Welsh Flying Medics treated the man on location before he was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
