Scrabble dictionary updated

The people behind the game Scrabble have added thousands of new words - including slang terms lolz and obvs.

6,500 new words have been added to the Scrabble dictionary, which already contains around 250,000 entries.

Officials say that adding new words will make the game stay up to date.

Other new words added include bezzy, emoji and lolz.

It is the first update to the list since 2011 and includes words from Australia, Canada, South Africa, the UK and the US.

Here are some of the new words to look out for:

  • Bezzy (best friend) - 18 points
  • Dench (excellent) - 11 points
  • Lolz (laughing out loud) - 13 points
  • Lotsa (lots of) - 5 points
  • Newb (newbie) - 9 points
  • Thanx (thank you) - 15 points

And if you want to score really high, you could try 'quinzhee', which is a kind of snow shelter used by Inuits, and is worth a whopping 29 points!
