The champagne corks have been popping at Norwich Theatre Royal to mark the 250th anniversary of the curtain going up at the first theatre on its site. As part of the celebrations, the grand draw of the theatre's fund-raising raffle has been made. The raffle helped to raise £10m for the venue's facelift, which was unveiled on Tuesday, 13 November, 2007 with an operatic performance by Glyndebourne On Tour. Chief executive Peter Wilson said the revamp - which meant the city centre building was closed for seven and a half months last year - has been worth it.
