The ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳, in partnership with the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), is working to support communities in building a better understanding of how to cut their carbon emissions.

Starting on Monday, 17 March 2008, ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Look East will begin broadcasting a series of short films from across the region highlighting existing carbon cutting efforts and encouraging communities to get involved in the campaign.

"This is a topic we know many of our listeners and viewers are passionate about," said Peter Cook, ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ project manager for the Cut Your Carbon campaign.

"There are some terrific stories of people doing all sorts of things to go green and cut their carbon emissions, and we're looking forward to hearing about them and sharing them with the rest of our audience," he added.

EEDA will offer advice and support for all communities interested in cutting their carbon and will also offer grants of £5000 to £200,000 for selected projects. They are keen to hear from anyone interested in taking part.

"A community is a group of people that live or work together or belong to the same group like a club and who have the same common goal of cutting carbon emissions," said Richard Ellis, chair of EEDA.

"It can include schools and businesses so long as they are working with the wider community around them, and even groups of businesses based in the same location.Ìý Round one starts now and the closing date is 12 June."
