Great Yarmouth spies an early glimpse of Bond

A charity preview of the latest James Bond flick Quantum of Solace is being launched at the Hollywood Cinema in Great Yarmouth on Thursday, 30 October, 2008, but film fans may be rather shaken and stirred upon entry.

People in Norfolk will have the opportunity to watch the latest James Bond movie Quantum of Solace, one day before it's release to the general public in the UK.

A charity preview of the latest spy movie, featuring British actor Daniel Craig, is being held at the Hollywood Cinema in Great Yarmouth on Thursday, 30 October, 2008.

A selection of proceeds from the event will go towards helping the James Paget University Hospital's Palliative Care East appeal. The appeal provides care and support for patients and families that are affected by incurable diseases, such as motor neurone disease and cancer.

Quantum is the 22nd official Bond film

Not all that it seems

The appeal is providing film fans with the opportunity to have their photo taken outside the venue with 007, albeit a cardboard cutout version, as well as one of the famous James Bond Aston Martin automobiles.

Film fans might get more than they initially bargained for and find themselves dragged into a real-life Bond scenario.

Fortunately the public will not be met with men with golden guns, but security at the Hollywood Cinema in Great Yarmouth have been ordered to frisk the public before they enter the building in search of mobile phones and camera equipment.

Digital piracy

The restrictions have been put in place by film company Sony, to avert the film being pirated before its official release around the rest of the world and particularly in the United States of America on Friday, 14 November, 2008.

In addition, cinema attendees will be spied upon during the performance with night goggles. The extra tight security will cost the event £300.

Raising money for charity

Event organiser and supporter of the James Paget University Hospital's Palliative Care East appeal Tony Mallion, is excited about the charity preview.

"We're so pleased to have this screening for the appeal, but naturally we have to comply with the strict conditions they've set down," said Tony.

"At the event we've got some great prizes for a raffle including a weekend at Kelling Heath and a VIP trip on the Pleasure Beach's big wheel.

We're hoping the raffle will at least cover the cost of the security arrangements," he added.

The charity preview of Quantum of Solace will take place at the Hollywood Cinema in Great Yarmouth on Thursday, 30 October, 2008 at 7.30pm. Tickets for the event can be purchased from the Hollywood Cinema on 01493 852600.
