On December the 10th 1941 the HMS Repulse was bombarded by Japanese
air fire when sailing up the Malaysian Coast.
The ship's company came under heavy enemy fire - many were killed or
injured. Dr Cavanagh, from Derry, who also lost his life worked tirelessly
to help those in distress.

Tommy Burns from Steelstown was on that ship and survived but that
day has lived in his memory - .
