Remembrance

This year marks the 90th anniversary of the end of World War I. In honour of this, there are free events across the country, online activities and special broadcasts.

FAMILY DEVASTATED BY WORLD WAR ONE

"Don't worry, he'll never see the front" - Elizabeth Warke was given words of reassurance when she went to complain that her youngest son, 16 year old Samuel, had gone to Castle Street in Derry to sign up for the army. Three weeks before the end of the war he was dead. The war also claimed the lives of his brothers, Martin, Bobby, and Jasper.
