The Nottingham Brewery The Nottingham Brewery was set up by Phil Darby
and Niven Balfour four years ago.
Phil and Niven trained as commercial caterers. After some experiamentation
with home brewing they decided to set up on their own. Their first
venture was Bramcote Brewery. This then became too successful so
they were moved by the council. They then became Castle Rock Brewery
- which they then sold to Tynemill.
They brew five beers at any one time on the
premises - beers such as Legend and Rock Bitter.
They produce approximately 50,000 gallons of beer a year.
However, they aim to be the 'local brewery', prefering to stay relatively
small and be known for quality rather than quantity.
The Nottingham Brewery is attached to The Plough in Radford. In
2004 The Plough won the first ever Nottingham
POTY (Pub of the Year) Award. Take a look
