A fleet of fifteen Nottingham trams is currently being assembled.

Each tram, will have air conditioning, heating and large windows, and will comfortably carry up to 191 passengers at a time, with 62 seats and two wheelchair points.

Trams will start to be tested on the system so that they are ready for public services in November 2003.

NET Line One runs for 14km between Hucknall and Nottingham railway stations, with a branch line to a Park and Ride site off Jnct 26 of the M1 at Phoenix Park.

The trams chosen for Nottingham have an excellent power/ weight ratio, increasing their ability to climb quite steep hills like Mount Hooton Road and Waverley Street.

They will turn up every six minutes in the city centre at peak times.

Tram fares will be broadly in line with bus fares - partly because Nottingham City Transport is part of the consortium which will run NET.

It's expected 11 million passengers will use Line One every year - reducing annual journeys by two million.
