Nottingham
Guide Dog Training Centre opened its doors on October the 22nd 1991.
It will celebrate it's 10th anniversary this year.
In the last 10
years it has seen well over 200 guide dog partnerships pass through
its doors and touched the lives of many more clients and their families
with other services and rehabilitation training.
In the year 2000
around 35 people trained with their new dog at Nottingham from all
over the East Midlands as they are now responsible for Nottinghamshire,
Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.

The centre provides
services to almost 400 guide dog owners and many hundreds of rehab
clients across the region. This can range from working out a route
to dealing with the most heartbreaking event in a guide dog partnership,
the dog's retirement.
Nottingham centre
is currently looking at plans to expand the kennel facilities to
allow for up to 60 dogs each year to pass through the training centre
and are considering a number of different options to ensure that
the Centre continues to meet the needs of blind and partially sighted
individuals and their families into the next century.
Anyone who would
like more information about Guide Dogs or who would like to support
the work at the Centre should call the Guide dogs for the Blind
on 0115 985 6056.
Guide Dogs Welcome
stickers can be obtained free on 0118 983 8228.
