Leon Reed is thought to be Nottinghamshire's first eco-friendly handyman. He gets to his jobs on bicycle and uses products that have the lowest impact on the environment. Leon says, "You try and be as environmentally friendly as you can in all aspects of your life. It makes a better impact that way."

Leon's been green since birth. "The eco-friendly side [of my job] has been part of my life ever since I can remember. I was raised by people who always advocate recycling. Neither [of my parents] have owned a car."

Leon carries his tools on the back of his bike and gets materials sent directly to the job. "You'd be surprised how much you get on [my bike]... I manage to get practically everything that I need for every eventuality, at one point or another." Leon's enterprise has won him a nomination for a Reach Out Award in the Green Angel category. He was nominated by Penny Poyzer, the presenter of 'No Waste Like Home'. He says of the accolade, "I was quite shocked, it wasn't anything I was expecting, but pleased obviously. It's nice to be recognised for doing something you believe in." |
