The appeal of Fists must surely come from their originality and a desire to experiment, as well as being a great live act.

Each track you hear sounds fresh and exciting.

Where does this come from? Who are their influences and can they define their sound?

James: "We have a collection of bands that we really like.

"But I'm sure every band in the world says 'well it's impossible to define our sound.' And 99% of the time that isn't true, because you can define our sound...

"I think we do sound a bit different from every other band but I may be falling into that... what's the chances of us falling into that 0.1%?"

Pete: "I think we're quite heavily influenced by skiffle and the DIY ethos to making music..."

James: "Yes."

Angi: "All of us have really varied tastes and I guess it's a mix because of that."

There's a lot of talk about the band, a buzz if you like. Does this help or hinder?

James: "We don't believe it do we? (Jokes) Oh we do actually. We spend a lot time believing it. We spend a lot time celebrating the buzz together in our house."

Joe: "We've been doing it for four years without the buzz."

Why has it taken four years to get to this point?

Angi: "It's just hard when you're working, to record, to keep your instruments because they keep breaking...

James: "We have no money!"

Angi: "It just takes a while."

James: "It's taken us all this time to buy equipment."

Angi: "And I've only just got a car."

James: "Being in bands is very expensive."

Joe: "We can only afford half a drum kit."

James: "That's why we like skiffle because you can make your own instruments out of planks of wood and things."

Angi: "Except we haven't actually done that."

James: "Yeah I made this [guitar] from an old table."
