For one day only Year 8 pupils at the Joseph Whitaker School will be 'leading the news' on the 成人论坛.

The Nottinghamshire schoolchildren have been practising with the latest digital equipment and will make a series of audio reports to be broadcast on 成人论坛 Nottingham on Thursday 26 March 2009.

They are taking part in the 成人论坛 News School Report day which gives 11 to 14 year-olds in the UK the chance to make their own news for a real audience.

Compelling learning

The secondary school pupils have decided to focus on two issues: how to make school more compelling and proposed new facilities at Joseph Whitaker.

They will interview parents and peers to find out how the school experience has changed over the years and how learning could be made more interesting.

The teenagers will also look at the school's old building and ask pupils what they would like from the new building which is hoped to be completed by 2013.

English and Media Studies teacher at Joseph Whitaker School, Rachel Street says:

"School News Report is great for the pupils because it's a hands on experience of putting the news together.

It gives them an understanding of how it is put together so that when they listen to the news they feel a sense of ownership.

"It will bring the media alive for them, and develop the pupils confidence."
