Tony
Thompson (Jonathan Lipnicki), a nine-year-old boy from
San Diego moves with his parents to a small village in
Scotland.

He
finds it hard to fit in. To everyone else he talks oddly,
wears Harry Potter spectacles and is completely obsessed
with vampires.
One night
a real life little vampire turns up. Rudolph (Rollo Weeks),
is searching for a magical amulet that holds the power to
transform every one of his ilk into normal human beings.
Tony
and Rudolph become firm friends, much to the annoyance of
Rudolph鈥檚 vampire father (Richard E Grant).

They set
out to find the amulet together. But on the way there is the
obligatory freelance vampire slayer to confront before the
pair have any chance of success.
The
Little Vampire, if you hadn鈥檛 guessed, is aimed firmly
at the family entertainment category.
The film keeps an eye out for the kiddies so no shockers
here. Blood is in very short supply, although none of
the vampires seem to be suffering.
Parents
can take their tots along, safe in the knowledge that
there's nothing here to give them nightmares.
All
in all a good film for kids.
