 Summer Holiday Activities

Venue: Castle Museum
Date: All summer
A new children's exhibition encouraging children to come and look after some of the pets who live in the pictures of the castle. As well as the paintings children can take part in activities such as dressing up and drawing, such as playing a shopkeeper and take over the pet shop counter.

Venue: Wollaton Hall and Park
Date: Wednesday 22nd August and Sunday19th August
Time: 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4.30pm
A variety of activities to keep the children amused over the summer holidays exploring the wildlife inside and outside the hall. Events include animal investigation, mask making and pond dipping. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Venue: Castle Museum
Date: Throughout summer holidays
Explore the lookout! Ideal for those who love exploring. Pick up an activity pack and learn more about the medieval history of the castle. Activities from puppets to brass rubbing.

Venue: Green's Mill
Date: Throughout summer holidays
What makes your hair stand? Why do we see rainbows? These and other questions will be answered at Green's Mill. Check out the 'hands on' science interactive at the mill and visit the under five's discovery zone.

Venue: Newstead Abbey
Date: Until 30th September
Fancy yourself a romantic hero? Come and try for size copies of Lord Byron's favourite gear. Clothes to fit children and adults.

Venue: Museum of Costumes and Textiles
Date: 25th July - 26th August
In celebration of the museum's 25th birthday, take part in this competition for budding dress designers to design fashions of the future. Prizes for the most original designs. 50 pence to enter.

Venue: Sherwood Forest Country Park & Visitor Centre Date: Monday 6th August through out the summer holidays
Price: 50 pence
Robin Hood's Treasure Trail - 50p per leaflet.

Venue: Bestwood Country Park
Date: 18th - 26th August
Wild Things. A programme of one and two day adventures for children. One day events: 5-7 year-olds; two day events: 9-12 year-olds 0115 927 3674.

Venue: Green's Mill
Date: Saturday 18th August
Time: 10.30 - 12pm or 1pm - 2.30pm
Price: 50 pence.
Come along to the Mill and create your own hanging sculpture. Make a hanging, jingling, jangling, moving mobile out of a variety of shiny materials. Suitable for 7 - 11 year olds. Just drop in.

Venue: Brewhouse Yard Museum
Date: Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th August
Time: 11am - 3pm
Get a taste for the outdoor life when the Nottinghamshire County Scouts set up camp in the grounds of Brewhouse Yard. Take part in fun games, make mobiles and masks. Also have a good sing along around the fire.

Time: 10.30am - 12.30pm and 2 - 4pm
Price: £4 per child
An opportunity for children to get their hands dirty or at least covered in dough! A practical session showing 7 - 13 year olds how to make their own delicious wholemeal bread. You will need to book this in advance on 0115 915 6878.
