David
seemed to develop a passion for crime-writing right from the outset!
His big break came along in the early 1990s when his novel 'Shoot
the Teacher' was published as the first in the Point Crime
series.
It's success enabled David to become a full-time writer - and
he's never looked back!
His next novel, 'Avenging Angel', led to The Beat, a series
of mysteries about young police officers in Nottingham.
David's writing has nearly always been aimed at young adults
and virtually all of his work has
had criminal undertones.
He was born in Sheffield, and lived in Leicester, Merseyside
and Lancashire before going to university in Nottingham, where
he has remained ever since. |

He worked
in the CID and headed the fraud squad, which he particularly
enjoyed.
His grounding in the force gives him loads of inside expertise
on police procedure and thus his writing is full of criminal
accuracy.
Raymond's writing career started after he retired from the force
and joined a university creative writing course.
As a result, he got through to the finals of a short story competition
in 1992 before winning a prestigious prize a couple of years
later. This led to a contract with publishers Hodder & Stoughton.
He has gone on to make his name with a series of crime novels
set in the fictitious seaside town of Eddathorpe, complete with
his own super-sleuth hero Robert Graham.
